Yes, I'm walkin' (first video post!)

I saw my friend Emery's train video on his blog, so I had to try that feature. Here's me taking a few steps toward Mommy. Don't worry, I didn't get hurt at the end--I like to lunge when I get close to Mom or Dad!

Princess & the Pea

I really like sleeping with lots of stuffed animals and blankets. I like my bed to feel lumpy.

Yogurt Head

Mikayla: I really like when mom or dad give Elijah a spiky-do. I didn't have any hair gel or water handy, so I improvised with yogurt. Mom was not impressed!

The Winner is...

I am very excited to be my aunt Jenny's flower girl next summer. I tell my mom and dad every so often that I'm going to be a flower girl. Mommy showed me her wedding gown, and she said I could wear it when I get married. Mommy and Daddy asked me who I wanted to marry when I grow up. I had to think about it but then I knew: Jackson Meyer. He is nice and funny, and so are his parents. Plus he has great toys and his neighborhood had an awesome swimming pool! Maybe if he is already taken I will marry Emery.

Dinner with Devon

Last night our friend Devon came over for dinner. Afterwards we got to play a little bit. Elijah decided to take a few brave steps towards Devon. (His first steps without support.) Guess we need to invite fun friends over more often! We love you Devon.

Making Messes!

One of our favorite things to do, and one of mom's least favorite is making messes. It's pretty easy, just take a toy bin and place it upsidedown on the floor, then lift it up. Elijah and I also like to get on top of emptyied toy bins. (Mom's not a fan of that either.) As Lola (from the cartoon Charlie & Lola) would say, It's not a mess, it's just properly spread out.

Downey Park Spash Zone

This weekend mommy and daddy took us to Downey Park. They have a great spash zone where you can get very wet. It was lots of fun, mom and dad got wet too. I (Mikayla) decided to do some interpretive dance moves in the middle of the spash zone. We are glad to live where there are so many fun city parks to go to.

Climbing victory

Elijah: Today we went to the park and played. Our friend Molly and her Mommy came too. We got all wet at the splash pad, that was fun. Then I went for a swing. Mommy set me on the slide, and I went down. Then after months of observing my sister's climbing techniques I was ready to amaze. I climbed up the slide all by myself. I'd never been so high up! (Ok, well maybe in the Rocky Mountains.) Mommy had to watch me closely. I'd crawl over to the slide all on my own and then climb up.

Love Deferred

Mommy: Can I please have a hug and kiss, Mikayla?
Mikayla: Not yet, maybe when I grow bigger.

MJ's

I was destined to love Monkey Joe's- MJ's- it shares my initials. We went there on Saturday. They had like 10 different bouncy house slides and houses to play in. It's inside and air conditioned. I had fun playing and Elijah even went in a few of the bouncy thingys. One time he got stuck between two pillars and mom had to come in and get him unstuck. It was fun. I liked when Dad or Mom climbed with me up to the slide. (That way the bigger kids didn't bump me.) I also got to eat chicken nuggets that night for dinner.

Labor Day

Mikayla: Today we went to the beach. I was very excited about going, and kept proclaiming; "I love the beach, I really love the beach!" (I'd only been to the beach one other time when I was a baby.) We got to the beach and the sand was very hot, and even with my flip-flops on it was hard to walk. The water was salty and I did not like when it got in my mouth and eyes. I was scared of the water but liked playing in the sand. Dad and I made a little sand castle. Mom and dad held me and we went in the water, and the waves would come up and crash on us. As we left I told mommy that I only liked the beach a little bit.

My birthday is still coming...

Mikayla: and I will hold my finger like this (holding up three fingers), and I want my birthday to be pink. ('Cause pink is my favorite.) Mommy asked me what toys I wanted for my birthday. I paused and thought and then told her I have lots of toys, I don't need any more. (Maybe I'll ask for world peace!)

The Whys

Mikayla: Mom says that I have officially entered the "why" phase. I like to ask why over and over to almost everything. (Just keeping mom and dad on their toes.)
